i recently walked a bit along the abbey lake of the town of Paimpont, in western Brittany. The entire town is surrounded by a large historical forest, one that is associated with the Arthurian myth: Brocéliande is said to be the forest where Excalibur was set to rest inside of a stone. The actual name of the forest is "Paimpont forest", according to the name of the town.

The lake is surrounded by a walking trail for tourists, with decorations and little segments of boardwalk. The area is a big marsh: it would be impracticable otherwise.

Zoomed-in view of moss and ivy growing on the bark of a tree, with a blurry background of nature in the back. A photograph of a wooden board walk over mashes in a green forest. Bottom-up photograph of the sky hidden behind the green tree tops A rusted-over human-size tuning fork planted in the forest; the background is grayscale A brown lizard on a wooden plank Mushrooms on top of a tree stump. They're oddly iridescent. Close-up of a sprout on a tree stump. Moss and mushroom stools growing on a tree stump. Boardwalk and dirt path leading deeper in the tall grass of the forest. Close-up of a very brightly-lit little pond in the marsh area. A bunch of sticks grouped together at the roots of a large tree. An iridescent deep-blue dung beetle walking across wood chips. The abbey, seen from the other side of a lake. It's a bunch of huge building of grey slab roofs and red bricks. Blades of grass in focus right next to the edge of the lake that quickly gets out of focus.
